Water Play

One of his favorite bath time activities is trying to catch the water. I'm not sure what he thinks of it, but I'm thrilled that he likes it!

System Back Up

Hopefully these prunes will help clear it out. It's the only baby food that he has had (minus the apples in the beginning) that I haven't made. The idea of soaking prunes in water overnight to rehydrate them just seems a little off to me. But oh my these are just gross!

Fresh Air

It's good to air out for a bit after you take a bath...

Never say never

Going into this entire parenting thing I knew never to say never, because at a certain point you'll just do what works. Given that notion I almost never said I wouldn't use _______. EXCEPT I did say that I would never use a bath seat. I had read a lot of conflicting information about them, mostly they aren't safe because they give the parent the notion they can leave the child for a moment. NOW... we all know you shouldn't never leave a baby unattended near water, or almost at all for that matter.

Anyhow, C was getting a bit slippery in the sink when we bathed him so at a consignment sale last weekend I picked up this bath seat.

You know, he loves it and so do we. It even helps him play and explore the water (more on the exploring in a later post).

More Pumpkin Patch

While Eric went off and played at the mountain with all the men, the wives and children stayed behind. It's been tradition for about 3 years now that we all meet at the pumpkin patch the weekend that they go to the mountain. I'm glad that this year the tradition continued. C was very good, he even fell asleep on the very bumpy hayride.

Stats Update

We went to the peditrician yesterday for more shots, oh yeah and a check up. C is growing well and very strong. In my mind he's still a little peanut!

Here are his growth stats since birth. You can see that within the last time period from 4 months to 7 months to took a pretty big leap in size.

7 Months with Jack

hmmm? ? ? this feels different

Watch out, I'm almost mobile!
Well he's now on the downhill slide to his first birthday! I'm not sure if I should cry or just smile. (However, I am certain that I would smile if he was sleeping through the night.)
During this month's photo shoot you can see that he was touching the chair. He seems to be fascinated by textures, the chair has a linen feel to it and he loved rubbing his hands on the cushions.
And just in case you're not real familiar with babies this is also the age where EVERYTHING goes in his mouth!
Also, when we went to the doctor to get the cold situation figured out C weighed in at 19 pounds 4 oz! He's quite the chunk. We have his 6 month well check next week, yeah it's a month overdue, so shoot me!

NFL Super Fan

So we are insane and actually pay to watch football every year, but it's only because we don't live in Colorado so we can't watch the Bronco's. Anyhow, this is about the most expensive lullaby I think we've ever bought. But hey whatever works. Actually, the whole family has been sick for about a week now. C has a his first cold (he's 7 months old now so I can't really complain) and Daddy and Mommy even did their own battles with some sort of virus that is going around. So today the sleeping was much needed!

All Bounced Out

Daddy had mentioned that little C had bounced himself to sleep before but I had never seen it. The other day I put him in there he was bouncing so hard you would have thought he was about to bounce out. Then all of a sudden it got quiet. The little bugger fell asleep. One of my mom's employees told me about his son falling asleep in his food, and now I can see how it can happen. Don't I wish that putting him down for the night in his crib was as easy as turning my back!

Saunders Point

C went to visit some friends last week. I wasn't feeling great and Dad was out of town, so he went to play with the C Family. He had a great time. Apparently, D (the boy) and C developed their own baby talk language and had many long conversations. I think that M (the girl) had a great time and I can see her being a fantastic baby sitter this time next year. Stacie (mother to M&D) took some really fun pictures too!
I know it's probably terribly annoying to not know the children's names but I don't want to put any identifiable information online, just something about the masses knowing such personal information.

Sippy Cup

Well we've got quite the drinking problem in our house. C was grabbing at every cup regardless of what the cup or bottle may have contained. So we decided to try his sippy cups. We had tried them one other time and all we got was a soaking wet baby. He seems to like these Gerber ones, and he's mastered them pretty well. :-)

Picking a perfect acorn squash

Well not only do you want to look for color and general hardness of the squash but you should also pick one that looks to be about the size of a 7 month old baby's head.
We're mean mean parents, and perhaps when we tell him not to play with his food he won't listen, but oh my goodness we were laughing so hard!!

Gappa & Gamma

I said it in a previous post, but Gappa & Gamma came to visit little C last week. He enjoyed many stroller rides, play time, and feeding adventures with them. He got a "get out of jail free" pass on Friday when he got to stay home from "school" and play with Gamma, while Daddy and Gappa went crabbing. It was a busy weekend, but we enjoyed having them and it's always good to be with your Grandparents so I'm sure C enjoyed it too. He even got two new cool toys, this one, and this one.

mmmmm.... mangos

Look at me with the pumpkins!

Laundry Revisited

We found a new way to carry him down the stairs, now that he can pretty much sit up on his own. I think it's pretty funny.

Pumpkin Patch

This past weekend Eric's parents were in town. As a rule we almost always go to Homestead Gardens to look at all the flowers and plants. This weekend we were surprised to find that it was the first weekend for the annual Fall Festival. C was even dressed for the occasion in coordinating colors. Chances are we'll be taking him back later in the month, perhaps then we'll actually get a smile!!
